Split Pea & Ham Soup

  • 2 cans chicken broth 14.5-ounce
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups dried split peas sorted and rinsed
  • 1 carrot chopped
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup finely chopped ham
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/8 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  • Combine broth, water and peas in a large pot; bring to a boil. Boil 10 minutes; reduce heat to medium low. Cover and simmer 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, cover and cook an additional 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf and serve hot.
