Snickerdoodles

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Sift flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Add to first mixture. Chill dough. Shape into balls the size of small walnuts. Combine cinnamon and sugar. Roll dough balls in mixture. Place two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.
