  • ½ loaf sandwich bread
  • ½ cup smooth peanut butter
  • ½ cup butter-flavored shortening


  • Cut crust from bread then cut white part into strips.
  • Put the crust on a cookie sheet and back 60 to 90 minutes at 225 degrees until brown and crisp.
  • While crust strips are baking, bake white bread strips just until dried out (do not brown).
  • Crush browned crust in blender to create fine crumbs.
  • Combine peanut butter and shortening in small saucepan.
  • Heat until melted and stir until fully blended; remove from heat.
  • Dip white bread strips in peanut butter mixture then roll in crumbs.
  • Place Peanut Butter Logs on waxed paper to dry.
