  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup karo light corn syrup
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 cups peanuts
  • ¼ stick butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda


  • Grease a large cookie sheet; set aside. Mix sugar, corn syrup and water; cook to hard-ball stage (250° to 265° on a candy thermometer). Add peanuts. Continue to cook to hard-crack stage (300° to 310°on a candy thermometer). Remove from heat. Stir in butter, salt and baking soda. Pour immediately onto prepared cookie sheet. Stretch mixture with a fork toward corners of cookie sheet to spread evenly. When cool, break into pieces.
