  • 1/2 cup butter real butter; margarine will not work, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon flour


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine butter and oats; set aside.
  • In a separate bowl,beat egg until foamy.
  • Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  • Stir in baking powder and flour.
  • Fold in oat mixture.
  • Grease and flour cookie sheets.
  • Drop batter by tablespoons about 3 inches apart on cookie sheet.
  • Bake until golden. Watch carefully; cookies will caramelize and burn easily.
  • Cool cookies 1 minute then remove from sheets onto cooling racks.
  • Cookies are very crispy and thin.
