Homemade Peach Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 3 cups sugar plus more for peaches
- 4 eggs beaten
- 1 gallon milk divided
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 4 to 6 medium-size Georgia peaches peeled and halved
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14-ounce
- 2 cans evaporated milk 12-ounce
- ice
- Rock salt
Instructions
- Combine 3 cups sugar, eggs, 4 cups milk and vanilla in a saucepan; cook over medium-high heat, stirring very frequently, until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and cool.
- While cooling, blend peaches and sugar to taste in a blender or food processor until smooth.
- Add to cooked mixture along with condensed milk and evaporated milk.
- Pour into a 6-quart ice cream maker and add more milk to reach fill line.
- Freeze according to manufacturer’s directions using ice and rock salt.
