  • pounds sliced deli ham 4 long slices
  • 1 8-ounce package Swiss cheese (4 long slices)
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated onion
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 24-roll packages ready-to-serve rolls


  • Cut ham and cheese in small pieces about the size of one roll.
  • Melt butter and mix in remaining ingredients, except rolls.
  • Break rolls in 3 rows.
  • Slice each row open; lay aside.
  • Spread butter mixture on both sides.
  • Top with a slice of cheese and a slice of ham.
  • Fold rolls back together and place back in pan until ready to cook. (Can be made ahead of time and frozen.)
  • Bake fresh rolls 20 minutes at 350°. (If frozen, bake at 250° for 30 minutes.)
