Gingersnaps Recipe

  • ¾ cup oil
  • 1 ¼ cups sugar divided
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 4 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger


  • Mix oil and 1 cup sugar. Add egg; mix. Stir in molasses. Sift flour, salt, cinnamon, baking soda and ginger. Add to molasses mixture; beat well. Roll into teaspoon-size balls. Roll in remaining ¼ cup sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with back of a spoon. Or flatten with a fork; turn fork and press again to create a cross pattern. Bake 15 minutes at 350° until brown.
