Creamy Vidalia Onion and Bacon Dip

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 Vidalia onions chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup real bacon bits (small bits not large chunks)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 to 3 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
  • Chopped parsley


  • Heat oil over medium heat in a saucepan or skillet.
  • Add onions, salt and pepper; cook until onions are brown but not burned.
  • Remove from heat and pour into a bowl to cool completely.
  • Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
  • Cover and chill at least 1 hour or until ready to serve.
