When you visit West Frankfort, make your first stop, the WF Outlet Mall one of the country’s top VF Factory Outlets. West Frankfort’s rich coal mining history is evident when you visit Coal Miners Memorial Park, downtown.  The park features the Orient #2 Memorial dedicated to the 119 coal miners who lost their life in the one of the largest mine disasters in the country. Learn more about West Frankfort’s coal mining history at the Frankfort Area Historical Museum, open each Wednesday early March thru mid-December. The museum features three floors of historical displays including the Frankfort Area Genealogical Society. In mid-May, the Old King Coal Festival celebrates the city’s coal mining history with 4 days of fun. The beautiful city park offers picnicking, fishing, and an indoor swimming pool and exercise center at the Aquatic and Recreation Center. Play a round of golf on the beautiful golf course at the Franklin County Country Club. Christmas town comes alive at the Fantasy of Lights Parade on Tuesday before Thanksgiving and the opening of Candy Cane Lane in December.
