  • 2 sticks margarine softened
  • 1/2 cup butter flavored shortening
  • 1 box light brown sugar 16-ounce
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

Caramel Glaze

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup chopped pecans optional


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cream butter, shortening, and both sugars.
  • Add eggs one a time, beating well after each.
  • Mix flour and baking powder in a separate bowl. Alternate adding a little flour and a little milk beating well after each addition.
  • Add vanilla and continue beating for another minute or two.
  • Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.
  • Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Caramel Glaze

  • Combine all glaze ingredients (except nuts) in a medium saucepan. Bring to a full rolling boil and boil 2 minutes. Add nuts (if desired) and pour over cake. Let cool and Caramel Pound Cake Recipe is ready to serve.
