Cantigny is the 500-acre former country estate of Robert R. McCormick (1880-1955), longtime editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune. Located 35 miles west of Chicago, the park is owned and operated by the McCormick Foundation, a public charity. Attractions include the McCormick House (Colonel McCormick’s mansion), First Division Museum, formal gardens, picnic grounds and walking trails. The full-service Visitors Center features banquet and dining facilities, Bertie’s Café and the Cantigny Shop. Cantigny Golf is located adjacent to the park and offers 27 championship holes plus the Cantigny Golf Academy and Cantigny Youth Links, a 9-hole course just for kids. Throughout the year, Cantigny is host to many special events and festivals, plus educational lectures, horticultural workshops and concerts.
