Buttermilk Brownies
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 5 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 stick margarine
- ½ cup oil
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Butter Icing:
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 tbsp butter
- 6 tbsp milk
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- ⅓ cup chopped nuts
Instructions
- Sift together sugar, flour and cocoa in a bowl.
- In a saucepan, bring to boil 1 cup cold water, margarine and oil.
- Stir in dry ingredients and mix until creamy.
- Add buttermilk, baking soda, eggs and vanilla; beat well.
- Bake at 350° in 9×13-inch dish treated with nonstick spray and bake 30 minutes.
- Cool and frost with Chocolate Butter Icing
Chocolate Butter Icing:
- Combine sugar, butter and milk in a nonstick saucepan.
- Bring to a full rolling boil, then remove from heat.
- Add chocolate chips and nuts.
- Stir and spread over brownies.
