Often called “The Crown Jewel of Galena”, Belvedere Mansion and Gardens is considered to be one of the finest Italianate mansions. With 22 lavishly decorated rooms and a history going back over 150 years Belvedere attracts a lot of attention.  With the green drapes from the classic film “Gone with the Wind” fame featured in the home and some of the ornate furnishings from the estate of Liberace, being showcased, everyone will find something amazing as they tour the mansion, originally built in 1857 at a cost of $30,000.00, by Joseph Russel Jones, a United States Marshall to Congress and a millionaire before the age of 30.   Today it is a private residence, but you may tour the Mansion May through November. Be sure to visit the Gardens, designed by Danny Dinatale.
