Creamy Vidalia Onion and Bacon Dip

1 tablespoon olive oil
2 Vidalia onions, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1⁄3 cup real bacon bits (small bits, not large chunks)
1 1⁄2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup sour cream
2 to 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 1⁄2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
Chopped parsley


Heat oil over medium heat in a saucepan or skillet. Add onions, salt and pepper; cook until onions are brown but not burned. Remove from heat and pour into a bowl to cool completely. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover and chill at least 1 hour or until ready to serve.
