Homemade French Onion Dip

2 (8-ounce) blocks cream cheese, softened
2 envelopes Liptons Onion Soup Mix
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon browning and seasoning sauce (can substitute with Worcestershire sauce), optional
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
Milk

Blend softened cream cheese with mixer until smooth. Hold a a sifter or other fine mesh sieve, over the bowl and pour in the soup mix one at a time. Shake to be sure all the seasoning is in the bowl; discard larger pieces (if you prefer, a chunky version can be made by using the entire envelope of soup mix, but we prefer this smooth version). Add sour cream, browning sauce, and garlic salt. Mix well. Add milk until dip reaches the desired consistency. Refrigerate until ready to serve with plain, ruffled, potato chips.
