Hot Buttered Rum
Relax on a cold, wintery night with a good book and a mug of this drink. Its spicy aroma is soothing and the taste is superb.

2 pounds brown sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Rum
Cinnamon sticks

In large bowl, cream together brown sugar, butter and spices. Store in airtight container in refrigerator indefinitely. To serve, stir 3 tablespoons of mixture and 1 jigger of rum into mug of boiling water. Use a cinnamon stick to stir. Garnish with whipped topping if desired. Serves 20.

Note: This mixture should stay soft, but in case it should get dry, lay an apple slice on top of mixture and seal. The apple will keep it moist.
