Baked Apples
 

6 to 8 medium apples, washed and cored
2 tablespoons raisins, optional
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice

 

Combine raisins, spices and butter. Fill apple cavities with spice mixture and place apples in slow cooker. If a second layer is required, place apples on top layer between the ones on the bottom layer. Combine water and lemon juice; pour over apples. Cover and bake on low 4 to 6 hours. To serve, spoon juice from slow cooker over each apple with a scoop of ice cream or frozen whipped cream. Serves 6 to 8.
